Turtle

"Imagine that the whole earth was covered with water, and a man was to throw a yoke with a hole in it into the water. Blown by the wind, that yoke would drift north, south, east and west. Now, suppose that once in hundred years a blind turtle would rise to the surface. What do you think? Would that turtle put his head through the hole in the yoke as he rose to the surface once in a hundred years?"

"It is unlikely Lord."

"Well, it is just as unlikely that one will be born as a human being; it is just unlikely that a Tathagata, a Noble One, a fully enlightened Buddha should arise in the world; and it is just as unlikely that the Dhamma and discipline of the Tathagata should be taught. But now you have been born as a human being, a Tathagata has arisen and the Dhamma has been taught. Therefore, strive to realize the Four Noble Truths."

A Glance at 2006

What I learned in 2006
1.You need only one person to believe in you, to give you the support, the confidence to do something.
2.You’re lucky if you have one, you’re blessed if you have more than one such person in your life.
3.Old friends are always a comfort.
4.Negative energy can be channeled to positive actions and results.
5.Kamma is always at work.
6.You need changes and challenges to stay alive.
7.Keep to the 5 precepts and you’ll never go wrong.
8.Don’t be too naïve. Be kind but be smart, trust but it’s still best to trust yourself most.

In 2006, someone has:
1.Made me feel beautiful
2.Made me feel it’s ok to make mistakes
3.Forgiven me
4.Listened to my problems without condemning me
5.Pushed me to take on more responsibility
6.Shown me what dedication is
7.Shown me what commitment is
8.Believed in me, that I could do it
9.Trusted me
10.Constantly supported me
11.Shown me what love is
12.Forced me to make difficult decisions
13.Inspired me
14.Loved me
15.Done me favours
16.Gave me opportunities to practice patience, compassion and loving kindness

For all these lessons and people in my life, I wish to thank you for giving me a great 2006.

Have a great 2007!!
