Turtle

"Imagine that the whole earth was covered with water, and a man was to throw a yoke with a hole in it into the water. Blown by the wind, that yoke would drift north, south, east and west. Now, suppose that once in hundred years a blind turtle would rise to the surface. What do you think? Would that turtle put his head through the hole in the yoke as he rose to the surface once in a hundred years?"

"It is unlikely Lord."

"Well, it is just as unlikely that one will be born as a human being; it is just unlikely that a Tathagata, a Noble One, a fully enlightened Buddha should arise in the world; and it is just as unlikely that the Dhamma and discipline of the Tathagata should be taught. But now you have been born as a human being, a Tathagata has arisen and the Dhamma has been taught. Therefore, strive to realize the Four Noble Truths."

The Haunted Hut

Another personality test I just received in my mailbox. My answer's (A), again pointing to a melancholy, I think. Seems like people who choose (A) are Perfect Melancholies, (B)s are Peaceful Phlegmatics, (C)s are Powerful Cholerics and (D)s are Popular Sanguines. Gee.. I love all these temperaments!

Is it good or bad to reveal your personality to other people? My parents would certainly be suspicious, hmm, yeah, they are suspicious people, another melancholy trait. Yet, they are kind and compassionate and willing to let some people (especially those they know) to take advantage. So, suspicious to outside people, suspicious of own friends and relatives, but because of compassion they just close one eye.

To them, someone would be using that kind of info to make use of you. Well, they don't know about this blog, so I've be saying so many things here, which I know I'll get a good session on "advice", if they ever discover about this!

The test: Tha Haunted Hut (I think I'm going to post an inventory of personality tests here, if I have the time)

One day, you get lost in the wilderness while travelling. It gets
dark and you have no choice but to seek refuge in a small hut nearby. The owner tells you all his rooms are haunted. Which room will you choose? (it is going to be very interesting.. ha ha haha)

The room where:

Room (A)
- a human head stares at you maliciously from outside your window

Room (B)
- the bathroom door creaks open and close, and there are sounds of a woman sighing

Room (C)
- the bed starts rocking violently whenever you try to sleep on it

Room (D)
- a headless ghost sits at the foot of your bed when you awake in the middle of the night

MAKE ONE COMFORTABLE (?!) CHOICE BEFORE YOU SCROLL DOWN FOR THE EXPLANATION. IT'S QUITE AN INTERESTING ANSWER.........

Scroll down for explanation.

*******************************************************************

A) A human head stares at you maliciously from outside your window.

Explanation: You need a lot of private space and are more suitable to work alone. You look for stability i.e. a job that is not easily affected by external factors and provides steady income.

E.g. Doctor, lawyer, SOHO, teacher, administrator.

B) The bathroom door creaks open and close, and there are sounds of a woman sighing.

Explanation: You prefer a stable job that does not require you to run around or meet people. You are willing to be subjected to pressure from your bosses if that lets you sit in an air-conditioned office all day.

E.g. Civil servant, engineer, computer engineer, accountant.

C) The bed starts rocking violently whenever you try to sleep on it.

Explanation: You are an active person who cannot sit still and does not like to be restrained. You are easily adaptable to a job which is full of changes and not routine.

E.g. Marketing, insurance, sales, delivery man, chauffer.

D) A headless ghost sits at the foot of your bed when you awake in the middle of the night.

Explanation: You suit jobs that need you to meet people, especially large crowds. Your job will depend on these people, but you will not know who they are

E.g. superstar, politician, PR, counter/frontline sales.
