My fingers...
Played the piano for an hour plus this morning, after I'm done, couldn't imagine how life would be without these fingers... Could not type, could not write, could not do handicrafts, could not tie bracelets, could not fold origami objects, etc.
Yesterday, on the "Finding Angels" TV programme, they showed disabled people in a home in Ipoh, they have 68 such disabled people living there and are appealing for bricks and cement so that they can build a new home on another piece of land, since the land that they're occupying now is going to be taken back by the landlord.. reminded me of IDC's visit to the Rumah Sinar Harapan in Kuala Kubu Baru..
I'm grateful that:
- I know my name
- I'm conscious of what I'm doing
- I have strong and healthy bones
- I have my organs intact
- I can control my thoughts and emotions
- I can take care of myself and other people
- I am not a burden to other people i.e. dependent on other people for care in daily acitivites
- I have people who care for me
- I have my family
- I'm able to enjoy life
- I'm able to make decisions on how I want to live my life
For all these are what the people living in these homes are lack of... We are so lucky...

Turtle
"Imagine that the whole earth was covered with water, and a man was to throw a yoke with a hole in it into the water. Blown by the wind, that yoke would drift north, south, east and west. Now, suppose that once in hundred years a blind turtle would rise to the surface. What do you think? Would that turtle put his head through the hole in the yoke as he rose to the surface once in a hundred years?"
"It is unlikely Lord."
"Well, it is just as unlikely that one will be born as a human being; it is just unlikely that a Tathagata, a Noble One, a fully enlightened Buddha should arise in the world; and it is just as unlikely that the Dhamma and discipline of the Tathagata should be taught. But now you have been born as a human being, a Tathagata has arisen and the Dhamma has been taught. Therefore, strive to realize the Four Noble Truths."
