Turtle

"Imagine that the whole earth was covered with water, and a man was to throw a yoke with a hole in it into the water. Blown by the wind, that yoke would drift north, south, east and west. Now, suppose that once in hundred years a blind turtle would rise to the surface. What do you think? Would that turtle put his head through the hole in the yoke as he rose to the surface once in a hundred years?"

"It is unlikely Lord."

"Well, it is just as unlikely that one will be born as a human being; it is just unlikely that a Tathagata, a Noble One, a fully enlightened Buddha should arise in the world; and it is just as unlikely that the Dhamma and discipline of the Tathagata should be taught. But now you have been born as a human being, a Tathagata has arisen and the Dhamma has been taught. Therefore, strive to realize the Four Noble Truths."

Microsoft Publisher

I switched on my PC to do some work, but somehow went to click at Microsoft Publisher to take a look at what's available. A quick scanning of the templates - does make it look very tempting, a seemingly more advanced version compared to Microsoft Frontpage.

I have done some personal website work of my own before this. For my first website, I used pure HTML, collecting backgrounds from various websites, and designed the website using HTML and some Javacripts, playing with the cursor and scrollbar. Yes, I do feel proud of myself for having done that in the course of perhaps 4 months or so when I was 19 years old, but after that I abandoned the project altogether.

Later when I was in university, I did another piece of work for an E-commerce course, using Microsoft Frontpage. I think it was not as sophiscated as the work I've done before-maybe because of the effort I put in-there was not much of HTML language which I need to take care of, but it was done in the course of 2 weeks or so.

Since then I have not touched much of website publishing or any other forms of editorial work. I do wish I can do some of that again, it would be great to be able to design and to write again...
