Turtle

"Imagine that the whole earth was covered with water, and a man was to throw a yoke with a hole in it into the water. Blown by the wind, that yoke would drift north, south, east and west. Now, suppose that once in hundred years a blind turtle would rise to the surface. What do you think? Would that turtle put his head through the hole in the yoke as he rose to the surface once in a hundred years?"

"It is unlikely Lord."

"Well, it is just as unlikely that one will be born as a human being; it is just unlikely that a Tathagata, a Noble One, a fully enlightened Buddha should arise in the world; and it is just as unlikely that the Dhamma and discipline of the Tathagata should be taught. But now you have been born as a human being, a Tathagata has arisen and the Dhamma has been taught. Therefore, strive to realize the Four Noble Truths."

My Wish List

Was listening to some Chinese songs, and typed the "han yu pin yin" to the songs. Then I thought it would be nice to resume learning to read and write in Chinese, from there came my wish list...

As at 11:55pm, 26 Aug 07, my wish list consists of the following items:
  1. Buy my parents a trip - To somewhere in China, my dad would love that.
  2. Climb Mount Kinabalu - I've wanted to do this since a long time ago.
  3. Converse in Hokkien - Simply because I'm Hokkien yet I can't speak my own dialect.
  4. Drive - Maybe it's more precise to put it as to drive on my own.
  5. Go for backpacking trip - To anywhere! I missed the time I had in Paris, Barcelone, Granada and London.
  6. Have my own music room - So that I can play whatever and whenever I want to.
  7. Live in the suburbs - I've neved had the chance to live long enough in such places. Though lots of people say it's boring, I won't know until I've tried.
  8. Look slimmer - Who doesn't want to look slimmer??
  9. Perform as part of a music group - Love the feeling of how voices and instruments and sounds can blend to form a masterpiece. It's not quite the same as solo performance. It's another kind of "magic".
  10. Play Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu - Ever since I heard my piano teacher played it, it's a masterpiece to me, yet I have not learned to master it yet.
  11. Play piano duet - Somehow I never get to play a proper piano duet, other than playing with my piano teacher, and they were supposed to serve to improve sight reading and timing.
  12. Play the flute - I love the sound of it.
  13. Play the violin - Read before the violin is the master of all instruments or something like that. Would love to be able to play a decent violin piece.
  14. Read in Chinese - I think I missed out a lot because I'm not able to read in Chinese, my dad always says there's a lot to gain from Chinese literature.
  15. Read in Korean - I have started to learn a little and I like how the Korean characters are written, they are rather cute. Would be great to be able to master a foreign language.
  16. Read LOTR - I just obtained the whole set, guess I should read it, since it's another piece of masterpiece literature.
  17. Ride the bicycle - I wonder why I'd never took up learning how to ride one, I dreamed of riding the bicycle once in a while.
  18. Swim - Somehow I would like to be able to swim, though I know I am scared of water.
  19. Visit Disneyland - I love theme parks and all those amusement park rides, I feel like a kid again.
  20. Visit The Alps in Switzerland - Got this wish after watching Heidi when I was young. The mountains and valleys look simply fabulous in the movie.
